Governor Newsom is once again dodging accountability for soaring energy costs affecting California’s working families. Instead of addressing the impact of his policies, he again resorted to blaming oil companies in a bizarre social media rant over the weekend.

Embarrassingly, his bogus claims were quickly debunked by online fact-checkers.

• FACT: 20% of what you pay at the pump goes to taxes and fees, with only 1% going to oil companies in net profits.
• FACT: Earlier this year, California’s taxes, fees & regulations added $1.36 to the cost of a gallon of gas.
• FACT: Newsom’s administration is pushing a new regulation that could add another 50 cents per gallon to California’s gas prices.

Californians are fed up with the energy policies that have made living and working here increasingly unaffordable. Maybe one day Newsom will acknowledge his role in this crisis.
