Provides Immediate Relief to Struggling Californians
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) issued the following statement on the Bi-Partisan Problem Solvers Caucus proposal to immediately suspend California’s gas tax for 12 months:
“Republicans have been leading the charge to suspend the 51-cent-per-gallon gas tax and we’re finally seeing some progress. It’s past time that we help the millions of Californians who are barely able to keep their head above water because of our sky-high inflation and record-high gas prices.
“This bi-partisan effort needs to be fast-tracked to provide immediate relief at the pump. Californians have been suffering for months and can’t wait any longer.
“While this is a great first step, we need to continue to lower costs and end the affordability crisis in our state.
