California Assembly Republican Caucus
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) announced that 16 Assemblymembers have already signed on to co-author a resolution condemning Hamas and the terrorist group’s war crimes during and after the October 7 attack on Israel. The resolution, which also denounces recent acts of antisemitism and demands the release of hostages held by Hamas, will be formally introduced when the Legislature reconvenes in January.
“As leaders, we must be clear and unequivocal – we condemn the murder, rape, torture and mutilation of innocent people that was committed by Hamas terrorists on October 7,” said Gallagher. “This is a time to come together and say clearly that there is no place for Hamas’ savage ideology of terror and hate.”
In the months since the terror attack on Israel, the US government and many in the international community have condemned Hamas’ atrocities. Leader Gallagher announced this resolution more than two weeks ago to make a statement of moral clarity in California and add to the world voices rejecting Hamas and their hate-filled ideology.
Gallagher is inviting all Assemblymembers to add on as co-authors before the resolution is introduced in January. The draft resolution is available here.
In addition to Gallagher, the following 16 Assemblymembers have agreed to coauthor the resolution:
